Landscaping your yard could be more beneficial than you think. The landscaping can actually be more than just beautiful - it could be effective in controlling water flow and pests in your yard. How do you create a landscape design that will be both beautiful and beneficial? Are some plants better and more hardy than others? How do you choose what plants to place where? How much hardscape does your design need? These and many other landscaping questions are answered on my website. Take a moment to read up on my personal experiences and learn from what I have been through in the past.

3 Plants You Will Want In Your Landscape In The Fall

The layout of your landscape foliage is crucial to the yard's overall design and appearance. With the right placement, you can easily turn your yard into an eye-catching landscape that catches everyone's attention. Although many people tend to focus on their landscape in the spring and summer, fall is no time to cut ties with your yard. Here are a few plants that you'll want to incorporate into your landscape for a beautiful fall yard:

1. Pansies

Fall is one of the best times of the year for the old-fashioned pansies to be planted. The soil is still warm – just the perfect temperature, which allows plenty of time for the roots to fully establish. Spent flowers should be removed as soon as possible so that the plant is not using its energy to set the seeds. Some believe that pansies will not last long because most people will plant them in the spring. However, if they are planted during the fall, they can last for as long as eight months. This means that you'll get to enjoy the beautiful pop of color in your landscape in the fall, through the winter and into the spring.

2. Snapdragons

Snapdragons actually love the cooler temperatures that fall brings with it, which is why they are the perfect addition to your autumn landscape. Ultimately, you should plant snapdragons when daytime temperatures are between 60 and 75 degrees and nighttime temperatures are between 50 and 55 degrees. They come in a variety of colors, so it will be hard not to find a color that you appreciate or that will blend in well with the rest of your landscape. They work really well with pansies, which were already mentioned.

3. Lillies

Both spider and surprise lilies are wonderful foliage for your fall landscape. They will generally remain through the spring and then drift off. The flowers will spike during the month of August and September. In some cases, they may reach nearly three feet tall. The spider lily is bright red with stamens that look similar to that of spider legs, hence the name. The surprise lily is a pink flower that is shaped similar to that of a trumpet. Both can last for generations and are extremely easy to grow.

When you're planning your landscape for fall, the aforementioned flowers are definitely some that you'll want to consider implementing into the design.
